Choosing a coin app
Most coin apps do one of two jobs. Identifier apps such as Coinoscope and CoinSnap match a photo to a catalog entry, and reference tools such as PCGS CoinFacts publish guide prices and auction records by grade. PriceSnap starts with identification but is built around the second question: what would this coin sell for today, and what is the evidence? Two things a photo cannot settle: a certified grade and a variety that needs magnification. The app estimates a condition band and flags likely varieties, but for coins that come back valuable, a PCGS or NGC submission is what unlocks the top of the range.
