Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy explains how PriceSnap ("we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use pricesnap.ai, the PriceSnap mobile apps, and related price checking, grocery comparison, collection, watchlist, and alert features.

2. Information we collect

• Account and contact data: Firebase user ID, email address, authentication provider, and an email address you separately submit for updates or price alerts.
• User content: item and receipt photos, manual descriptions, barcodes, grocery lists, saved scans, notes, tags, collections, share settings, baskets, searches, and price-watch preferences.
• Location: precise latitude and longitude only after you choose current location, or the place you select manually. We do not request background location.
• Device and usage data: IP address, browser or device and operating-system details, app screens and features used, crash diagnostics, and an Android FCM device token after notification opt-in.
• Purchase data: product, subscription, and entitlement state processed by PayPal on the website, and by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat only when in-app purchases are enabled. PriceSnap does not receive full payment-card details.

3. How we use information

• Analyze items, receipts, vehicles, and grocery requests and return price comparisons.
• Save and synchronize account history, collections, baskets, watchlists, and share links.
• Apply free-use limits, prevent abuse, secure accounts, and diagnose failures.
• Localize currencies, marketplaces, and comparisons to the pricing area you choose.
• Send opted-in price alerts by supported channels and service messages you request.
• Reconcile store purchases with the PriceSnap plan enforced by our server.
• Measure and improve product performance and communicate about support or updates.

4. Photos, scans, and location

Photos and supplied text are uploaded to the PriceSnap API and sent to AI and search providers to produce a result. A signed-in scan photo may be stored in Firebase Storage with its saved history record. Anonymous scan photos and results may be stored so the device can display, share, or later claim them. Claiming an anonymous scan links it to the signed-in account.

If you choose current location, latitude and longitude are sent to our API for reverse geocoding, kept on the device as your pricing area, and may be saved with signed-in valuation or grocery records. You can instead search for a place manually and can clear the on-device pricing area in Settings.

5. Mobile notifications, analytics, and diagnostics

Price alerts are optional. The current mobile release registers native push tokens only on Android after permission is granted; iOS push alerts remain disabled until a verified delivery path is available. Disabling notifications does not stop scheduled watch checks.

If configured, PostHog receives product events and a Firebase user ID for signed-in identity. The current mobile release does not include a crash-reporting SDK. The app does not send your email address, scanned object IDs, collection IDs, or share IDs to PostHog, disables lifecycle autocapture, and does not use this data for advertising tracking.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We do not sell personal information. We use providers where needed to operate PriceSnap:

• Firebase for authentication, database, file storage, and supported notifications.
• AI and search providers to analyze submitted content and find comparison evidence.
• Vercel for hosting, request processing, and site analytics.
• PostHog for optional product analytics as described above.
• PayPal for optional website subscription billing and entitlement state.
• RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for optional store purchases and entitlement state.
• Resend for email updates and price alerts where email delivery is enabled.
• Google and other advertising providers on the website only, which may use cookies or similar technologies subject to consent choices and applicable law.

We may also disclose information to comply with law, protect users or the service, or complete a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. Retention and account deletion

We retain account content while the account is active or as needed to provide the requested feature. Operational logs, fraud and security records, backups, and payment or tax records may be kept for limited periods or as legally required. Subscriptions must be cancelled in PriceSnap, PayPal, Apple, or Google settings, depending on where the purchase was made.

A signed-in mobile user can open Settings → Delete account, reauthenticate, and permanently delete Firebase Auth plus PriceSnap-controlled scan history and stored photos, claimed anonymous scans, collections and share links, watches, notification tokens, grocery data, vehicle checks, and the user record. PayPal, Apple, or Google subscriptions must be cancelled separately before or after account deletion to stop future charges. Sign in with Apple users are asked to authorize Apple again so PriceSnap can revoke the Apple grant before deletion. If the direct flow is unavailable, contact support@pricesnap.ai.

8. Cookies and website advertising

The website may use cookies or local storage for sign-in, preferences, analytics, security, and advertising. Google AdSense and other vendors may use cookies to serve and measure ads subject to your consent choices. You can manage browser cookies and review Google's controls in My Ad Center. The PriceSnap mobile app does not use advertising tracking.

9. Security and international processing

We use access controls, encrypted transport, scoped authentication, and other safeguards appropriate to the service. No transmission or storage system is entirely secure. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their contractual and legal safeguards.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. You may withdraw optional notification, analytics, email, location, photo, or camera permissions through the app or system settings. Contact support@pricesnap.ai for a request that cannot be completed in the product. We may verify identity before fulfilling a request.

11. Children

PriceSnap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Higher minimum ages may apply where required by local law.

12. Changes and contact
